Forward Party poses similar ideas as ‘Fixing Post-Truth Politics’ book

This week’s announcement of an upstart third United States political party, Forward Party, is very similar to the solution to constant lies by political leaders suggested in the book, “Fixing Post-Truth Politics.”

If you are among the millions of Americans who are disgusted with our presidential nomination and election process, but have no idea what to do about it, “Fixing Post-Truth Politics” will tell you how we got here, and what steps a concerned populace can take. Forty percent of Americans self-identify as being independent of either the Democrat or Republican party. But they don’t vote that way.

This book describes how to find the candidate who will give voters who have passed the point of exasperation with the Democratic and Republican party political machines someone who they can feel good about voting for. And, it charts the path necessary to have a chance for victory in each of our 50 states.

Fixing Post-Truth Politics was written for the following audience, much of which is being targeted by Forward Party:

This book is written for the more than 100 million United States citizens who do not currently have a voice in national politics. These are the people in the political “middle,” who, in effect, have no representation in the federal government. You will learn in this book that there are more “middle-grounders” than there are Democrats or Republicans in the U.S., but the “middle” has nobody standing up for it.

This book is written for the people in the middle who have an open mind and don’t automatically subscribe and tie themselves to a position or statement just because one of the leaders of the Democratic or Republican parties says it.

Forward Party claims that nearly 50 percent of Americans now fit into the essentially unrepresented political middle. Its website provides more specifics:

The Forward Party stands for doing, not dividing. That means rejecting political extremes and working together to take real action on every important issue for the unrepresented majority in American politics. We’re not building a copy of the current parties, which are dragging our country backwards. We’re moving American politics forward, with a party focused on innovative, collaborative, and common-sense solutions that work for the majority.

HOW WE’RE DIFFERENT

Diverse Thinking Isn’t Just Welcome, It’s Required
The Forward Party will welcome new ideas and fearless conversations around the issues of the day. We won’t silence debate or refuse to adapt to the modern world.
Bottom-Up, Not Top Down
The Forward Party will empower leaders to find solutions that work in their communities. We won’t dictate a rigid, top down policy platform and expect it to work for all Americans.
No Purity Tests
The Forward Party will create a political home for everyone willing to set aside the partisan extremes and find practical ways to make this country better. We won’t be checking IDs to see if people are Democrats, Republicans, or Independents.
More Listening, Less Talking
The Forward Party will ask you what we can do for your community. We will not ask what your community can do for us.
Work Together, Not Against
The Forward Party will strive for collaborative solutions, make sure they work, and try something else if they don’t. We won’t ignore problems so that we can use them to drive wedges between Americans; nothing gets done when opposing views are treated like enemy positions.
Grace and Tolerance
The Forward Party will approach each other with grace and tolerance, finding ways to pick people back up rather than knock them down. We won’t cancel people or cast them out of the party for not falling in line.

Forward Party says it is fighting for the American people with practical, common-sense solutions. While other political parties look to divide America into different camps, the Forward Party aims to bring them together, they say.

Here’s what one of the principals of Forward Party, Andrew Yang, has to say:

Andrew Yang, principal of Forward Party, explains the new organization in a YouTube video.

We encourage everyone to keep an eye on the progress of Forward Party. It, or some other organization with similar goals and objectives, is what Americans need to recapture the essentials of a functioning democracy. We are currently much closer to having the “Great American Democracy Experiment” failing than most people realize.
